The Hotel Bar

An elegant and delicious opportunity to enjoy a drink while you wait.

On the doorstep to Brittany, a bar must not only have a reputation, it must also live up to it's reputation. The lively Castel Marie-Louise bar does exactly that.
The atmosphere is peaceful for afternoon teas - not forgetting that La Baule's hospitality comes from interest shown in the sea-side resort by the first British tourists who used to stop off on their way down to Biarritz and the French Riviera, and who already appreciated the region.
The most audacious aspect of the hotel can also be appreciated during moents of select cognac and whisky sampling at the bar.
During the afternoon, the light fragrance of mixed teas drifts in, recalling Agatha Christie, Miss Marple and the old but crystal clear insight of famous detective Hercule Poirot. Many of the Queen of mystery's novels were adapted to the screen and shot here in La Baule, Deauville and in Dinard.
And in the evening? Well........tell the barman about your curiosity and sample some of the whiskies and cognacs for our incredible collection (with moderation).
